Refund and Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026
In short
- Cancel at any time from the Billing page (Stripe customer portal), in two clicks. You keep your plan until the end of the paid period.
- Changed your mind? Ask within 7 days of your first payment: if you used fewer than 100 credits, we refund it all.
- Some countries give you more time or more rights. Where your local law gives more than this policy, your law wins. See Rules by country below.
- Charged twice or by mistake? We always refund it.
- Please write to us before opening a dispute with your card.
Our general policy
These rules apply to every customer, in every country where we sell.
Cancelling. You can cancel online at any time, with no fee and without talking to anyone. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you paid for and then does not renew. We send a confirmation e-mail when you cancel.
New subscription. If you ask within 7 days of the first payment of a subscription and you spent fewer than 100 credits, we refund the full amount and end the subscription.
Yearly renewals. We e-mail you a reminder 15 to 45 days before a yearly plan renews, with the price and how to cancel. If a yearly renewal went through and you meant to cancel, ask within 7 days of the renewal charge: if you spent fewer than 100 credits since the renewal, we refund it in full. After that, write to us and we will look at it fairly.
Price changes. We tell you 7 to 30 days before a price goes up. If you are charged the new price and cancel within 14 days of that first higher charge, we refund the unused part of that period.
If the service fails. If the service is unavailable for a long time, or does not work as described, tell us. We will fix it or refund you in proportion to the problem.
Partial periods. Your plan's credits are delivered right away and every day. Apart from the cases in this policy and the rights your local law gives you, we do not refund the unused part of a month or a year after you cancel.
Rules by country
Where a rule below gives you more than our general policy, the rule below applies. Where it gives you less, our general policy still applies. "Days" means calendar days unless we say business days.
United States
There is no federal cooling-off period for online subscriptions, so our general policy applies, including the 7-day refund and the yearly renewal refund. We follow the federal rules on online subscriptions (ROSCA) and state automatic renewal laws:
- California: you can cancel online in the same way you signed up; we send at least a yearly reminder of your plan, its price and how to cancel; we tell you about a price change 7 to 30 days before it applies.
- New York (state and New York City): cancelling is as simple as subscribing; the reminder before a yearly renewal reaches you 15 to 45 days before it; if a price goes up, you may cancel within 14 days of the first higher charge and get a refund for the unused part.
- Other states: the same steps apply everywhere in the US.
Canada
Our general policy applies across Canada. Provincial consumer laws also let you cancel an online agreement if we did not give you the information the law requires or a copy of the agreement; if that happens, we refund you within the time your province sets (usually 15 days).
- Quebec: under the Consumer Protection Act you may cancel a distance contract within 7 days of receiving your copy if required information was missing, or within 30 days if you did not receive a copy. A clearly visible online button to end your subscription is always available on the Billing page.
United Kingdom
Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you may cancel within 14 days from the day after you subscribe, without giving a reason. When you subscribe, you ask us to start the service right away and you acknowledge that if you cancel within the 14 days, we may keep an amount in proportion to the service already provided.
- If you spent fewer than 100 credits, we refund the full amount.
- Otherwise we refund the price minus the days already used (days used ÷ days in the period × price).
New UK rules for subscriptions are expected from 2027. We will update this policy when they start.
Ireland, Spain and Portugal (and other EU countries)
Under EU consumer law (Directive 2011/83/EU, applied by Ireland's Consumer Rights Act 2022, Spain's General Law for the Defence of Consumers and Users and Portugal's Decree-Law 24/2014), you may withdraw within 14 days of subscribing, without giving a reason. A renewal does not start a new period.
- When you subscribe, you ask us to start the service right away and you acknowledge that, if you withdraw, we may keep an amount in proportion to the service already provided.
- If you spent fewer than 100 credits, we refund the full amount.
- Otherwise we refund the price minus the days already used (days used ÷ days in the period × price). We never keep more than that.
- You can withdraw by e-mail or with any clear statement. We confirm it by e-mail and refund within 14 days.
Australia
Under the Australian Consumer Law, there is no cooling-off period for online subscriptions, so our general policy applies. Your consumer rights under the Australian Consumer Law cannot be excluded: if the service has a major failure (for example, it does not work as described or is unavailable for a long time), you may cancel and get a refund for the unused part, or compensation. For a smaller failure, we will fix it within a reasonable time, or refund you.
New Zealand
There is no cooling-off period for online subscriptions, so our general policy applies. Your rights under New Zealand consumer law (CGA 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986) cannot be excluded: the service must be provided with reasonable care and skill and fit for its purpose. If a problem cannot be fixed or is substantial, you may cancel and get a refund.
Brazil
Under art. 49 of the Consumer Protection Code (CDC) and Decree 7.962/2013, you may withdraw within 7 days of the first payment. We refund the full amount, whatever you have used.
- You can withdraw by e-mail, from the same account you used to subscribe.
- We confirm receipt right away and ask Stripe and your card issuer to reverse the charge.
Argentina
Under art. 34 of Law 24.240 and art. 1110 of the Civil and Commercial Code, you may revoke your purchase within 10 days of subscribing, at no cost and without giving a reason. We refund the full amount, whatever you have used. You can also end the subscription at any time, by the same means you used to subscribe (the Billing page).
Chile
Under art. 3 bis of Law 19.496, you may withdraw ("derecho a retracto") within 10 days of subscribing. We refund the full amount, whatever you have used.
Colombia
Under art. 47 of Law 1480 of 2011, you may withdraw ("derecho de retracto") within 5 business days of subscribing. We give you 5 business days or 7 days, whichever ends later, and refund the full amount, whatever you have used. In the cases listed in art. 51 (for example a fraudulent charge or a charge you did not ask for), you may also ask your card issuer for a payment reversal.
Peru
Peruvian law (Law 29571, the Consumer Protection and Defence Code) does not give a general withdrawal period for online services. Our general policy applies, including the 7-day refund, and you keep every right the Code gives you.
Other countries
Our general policy applies, and it does not limit any mandatory right that the consumer law of your country gives you.
Payments are not available in Mexico, Japan, Thailand, Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Cuba and Crimea, and in other places where sanctions or local rules prevent them.
Duplicate or mistaken charges
If you were charged twice, charged after cancelling, or charged in error, we refund it in full, at any time, in every country.
How to ask for a refund or withdraw
Write to support@asktheskies.com from the e-mail address of your account. Tell us the date of the charge, your country and the reason (the reason is optional where the law gives you a withdrawal right). Never send your card number. We confirm receipt and answer within 2 business days.
When the money arrives
Refunds go back to the card you paid with, through Stripe, in US dollars. Depending on your bank, they usually appear within 5 to 10 business days. Your bank may apply its own exchange rate.
Card disputes
Please contact us before opening a dispute or chargeback with your bank. It is usually much faster to solve by e-mail. This does not limit any right your law gives you to ask your card issuer for a payment reversal. While a dispute is open, we may pause the account.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the law or our service changes. We show the date of the last update at the top. A change never reduces a refund you already asked for.
This policy is offered by Polar Codes, which runs Ask the Skies. It does not limit any right that the consumer law of your country gives you.
